World’s Leading Wafer Supplier Implements ICON Supply Chain Collaboration

ICON, a leading Supply Chain Management provider, today announced that the worldwide leading SOI wafer manufacturer Soitec successfully implemented ICON’s Supplier Managed Inventory solution to closely collaborate with its customers. The market leader in SOI wafers and other engineered substrates now benefits from a competitive advantage through automated and synchronized supply processes.

Using ICON’s web based Supply Chain Collaboration solution Soitec manages supply to several integrated circuit (IC) customer plants around the world. The ICON solution is based on an approach known as Supplier Managed Inventory (SMI): Suppliers and their customers collaborate by sharing information on demand, inventory etc. so that the supplier can decide on its own when and how much to ship. Both sides benefit from quick response, reduced manual effort and improved visibility resulting in increased service levels.

The application is fully integrated into Soitec’s planning environment. Supply can be simulated and impact on customers’ inventory development can be monitored. In addition, forwarders track their shipments in the ICON Collaboration Platform. Various Reports on key performance indicators (KPI) round off the picture and enable Soitec and its customers to jointly analyze their supply chain processes and continuously improve their collaboration.
